Talking Wild over Chai: Tales from the Indian Wilderness

Fri, Jul 30, 2021
LIVE  at 3:00 PM ET / 2:00 PM CT / 1:00 PM MT / 12:00 PM PT

Two guides walk into a webinar… Pull up a chair and sip some chai with Expedition Leaders Conan Dumenil and Harsha Jayaramaiah as they swap stories from the Indian wilderness. These two guides will share tales of their most memorable wildlife encounters and remarkable experiences from their more than 30 years of combined experience as naturalists. Harsha and Conan will compare notes from the field and discuss their favorite Indian animals and birds, including some lesser-known but equally compelling species. While they’ll of course cover India’s iconic tigers and leopards, you’ll also learn about the subcontinent’s other interesting species such as the gharial, Ganges river dolphin, wolves and hornbill. Get an overview of wildlife watching and birding in India through the eyes of these veteran safari guides who have spent many years observing and documenting the behavior of the subcontinent’s wild species in varied habitats, from the sal forest to the dense jungle to the Himalayas. You will also gain an enhanced understanding of some of the conservation challenges facing India’s wildlife, along with the significant role that local communities and public education play in protecting these threatened creatures.
