Expedition Leader Vineith Mahadev grew up in India’s Western Ghats, one of the richest biodiversity hotspots in the world and an ideal environment for a nature-loving kid. Hear from Vineith about his affinity for the snakes—from cobras to pythons—in his native country. He started his naturalist career as a tracker for the King Cobra Radio Telemetry Project, which soon morphed into guiding in India’s national parks. Today, he serves as a snake rescuer and educator in local communities, where he helps people coexist peacefully with their slithery neighbors.
