The late Ordovician mass extinction was the first of five mass extinction events that shaped life on Earth. It happened about 445 million years ago and resulted in the loss of about 85% of all marine species alive at the time. Interestingly, it was preceded by one of the largest and broadest biodiversification events on our planet. Join Expedition Leader Eleanor Edye as she explores the ecosystems of the Ordovician era now lost to time. What did the planet look like, and how was it different from today? What creatures lived in the oceans and on land? And how does this ancient extinction event impact our planet today?
