Presented by Kristina Disney
Once upon a time, a polar bear and a penguin were sitting on an iceberg... Well, sort of. Although polar bears have never traveled south to Antarctica and penguins have never made the swim north to the Arctic, there was a time when Ursus maritimus, the polar bear, and Pinguinus impennis, the great auk, inhabited the same ecosystem. Join Expedition Leader Kristina Disney to learn all about the now-extinct great auk, a flightless black-and-white bird which, despite not being related to penguins, shared many similarities with them, from looks to lifestyle.
