Photographing Pumas in Patagonia

March 23, 2026
LIVE at 3:00 PM ET / 2:00 PM CT / 1:00 PM MT / 12:00 PM PT

Presented by Anthony Amsel

Few wildlife subjects capture a photographer’s imagination like the elusive puma — the “ghost” of Patagonia. Wildlife biologist and Photo Expedition Leader Anthony Amsel explains the challenges facing pumas, their ecological role as a keystone species and the collaboration between ranchers and conservationists to protect this apex predator of the Andes. He also demonstrates how photographers can move beyond single dramatic frames to build meaningful visual narratives that convey the stories of Patagonia's pumas.
